THE ARBOUR LAKE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION IS A LIMITED COMPANY THAT WAS REGISTERED UNDER THE LAWS OF ALBERTA ON JULY 19, 1991. THE PURPOSE OF THIS COMPANY IS TO CARE FOR, AND IMPROVE UPON, THE ARBOUR LAKE AMENITIES, WITH THE MAIN FOCUS BEING A PRISTINE TEN-ACRE LAKE IN THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY.

Arbour Lake's Mission Statement Mission Statement

The ALRA is committed to operating the Residents Association in a professional, competent and fiscally responsible manner with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for all residents of Arbour Lake.

History and Evolution

As northwest Calgary´s only lake community, Arbour Lake offers a quality of living unmatched. Combined with spectacular mountain views, tot lots, neighbourhood parks, easy weekend access to the Rocky mountains, a huge city regional park and friendly neighbors, Arbour Lake has much to offer. In addition, proximity to the University of Calgary, SAIT, dining and shopping at Crowfoot Village and a YMCA add to the appeal of living in a private lake community.

History and Evolution of the Arbour Lake Swimming, boating, fishing, suntanning and ice skating are only a few of the recreational activities at Arbour Lake. Fly fishing in the suburbs? What a concept!

The idea for Arbour Lake was conceived by David Poppitt, who has been with Arbour Lake´s main developer, Melcor Developments Ltd., for twenty-five years. After visiting several upscale, popular lake communities in Southern California, he envisioned a lake community among the grassy hills and ravines of North West Calgary. The first showhomes in Arbour Lake appeared in 1991 and by 1993, the lake was filled and officially opened for recreation. We´ve come a long way from that Atco trailer in the parking lot!

Arbour Lake's Fees and Regulations Fees and Regulations

Maintaining and improving on first class amenities requires a strong revenue base, hence annual fees. Every lot in Arbour Lake has a legal "Encumbrance" registered against the Certificate of Land Title that legally requires the owner to pay a yearly Residents Association Fee. The ALRA collects this fee in January to fund all operations for the upcoming year. A copy of each resident´s land title is kept on file in the ALRA office. The ALRA requires a copy of the Certificate of Land Title on file as proof of property ownership. The current fee schedule is comprised of four different categories. They are as follows:

  • Regular Lot   .....................
  • $197.16
  • Lake access Lot   .............
  • $276.02
  • Lakeshore Lot   .................
  • $394.32
  • Multi Family Residential   ...
  • $157.73
    (all including GST)

The Annual Fee goes towards daily lake operations, staffing the Association, and for the upkeep of all stone arbours in the area and the two main entrances into Arbour Lake.

    Lake Access:

All homeowners are automatically members of the Residents Association. All family members living with the homeowner in Arbour Lake may also become members. If a home owner chooses to rent out their property, they must decide whether their own family, or the renters of the property. will retain lake privileges. If the renter will be using the lake privileges, we require written permission form the owner of the property.

ALRA photo ID cards, which must be presented at each lake visit, are issued for lake entrance to residents age 12 and over. Photo identification with your current Arbour Lake address must be provided to get a membership card. If you are a new resident, call the ALRA 241-2628 and we will arrange to take your photos and issue your membership card.

    Guest Policy:

FIVE guests per household per day is the limit. Members under the age of 16 are allowed two guests per day per household (unless a birthday party is arranged for, of course). We occasionally allow larger groups of guests if it doesn´t impose on ALRA members. Please call to arrange larger groups.
